Connected Papers
Connected Papers is a web tool that builds a visual graph of academic papers similar to a paper the user enters, drawing on the Semantic Scholar paper corpus. Researchers and students use it to get an overview of a field, find prior and derivative works and fill gaps in a bibliography. The vendor says each graph analyses about 50,000 papers and keeps the few dozen most strongly connected to the origin paper, using a similarity metric based on co-citation and bibliographic coupling and a force-directed graph layout. The vendor's pages describe no machine learning or generative AI.
