Ernest is Lighthouse's conversational AI assistant, built on third-party models selected per task ('model agnostic'). Ernest Chat is a read-only interface over a hotel's subscribed Lighthouse data and authorised third-party systems (PMS, RMS, productivity tools); Ernest Recommends generates pricing and commercial suggestions for human confirmation; Ernest Acts, which a customer must activate, executes rate updates, personalization campaign launches and booking-restriction changes in third-party systems, either with per-action confirmation or autonomously under customer-configured Guardrail Actions, including across a whole portfolio. It also runs alerts and scheduled routines, creates documents and presentations, and may persist cross-session memories. Per the Terms (updated 7 Oct 2026): Actions cannot be reversed once sent, Lighthouse does not verify their commercial appropriateness and disclaims resulting losses, Actions are logged for at least 12 months, and the liability cap (two times 12 months' fees) applies per incident rather than per property. Guardrail Actions cannot be configured to track other Lighthouse customers' real-time pricing, and Ernest is stated not to use individual competitor hotel data. Customers are the AI Act deployers, and Lighthouse will answer Article 13 requests within 30 business days 'to the extent' it is a provider. Rated high because, once enabled, Ernest can take unreviewed, irreversible actions in production pricing systems at portfolio scale, customer data is processed by unnamed third-party AI providers, and algorithmic-pricing competition-law exposure is left with the customer by the contract. Read-only chat use carries less risk. Ernest only became generally available in 2026, and the August 2025 AI Use Policy predates it.
