Touch Surgery Ecosystem is Medtronic's cloud platform for recording, storing and reviewing video of laparoscopic and robotic operations, used by surgeons, surgical teams and hospitals for education, training and quality improvement. A recording unit in the operating room connects to the existing camera system and uploads the video to a private cloud library, where it is available within about a minute. The vendor says AI blurs video outside the patient's body in real time (RedactOR, available for some procedures) and that its Performance Insights feature analyses the video after surgery to divide the procedure into steps and assess performance; staff add annotations and tags and can link videos to the patient record. Medtronic says the platform is not intended to analyse medical images or signals to guide surgery or to aid diagnosis or treatment. Video is stored on AWS; a UK government listing gives the data location as the European Economic Area. Medtronic says it conforms to GDPR and HIPAA and is audited against SOC 2 Type II.
