BoneXpert
by Visiana
BoneXpert is software that reads a child's hand X-ray, used in hospitals by radiologists, radiographers, endocrinologists and nurses. The vendor says it determines bone age autonomously by the Greulich-Pyle and Tanner-Whitehouse 3 methods, and also reports a Bone Health Index and Percent Adult Height, for patients up to 21 years old. It automatically rejects images it cannot analyse, such as a wrong hand pose, heavy post-processing or abnormal bone morphology, and the vendor says a radiologist should then assess the image. The vendor says the analysis needs no supervision by an expert, but also that its results must not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis, so a clinician interprets the reported bone age. BoneXpert Server runs on hospital hardware and exchanges images with the PACS and RIS; BoneXpert Online processes anonymised images on Visiana's own server, whose location is not stated. Each analysis makes a handshake with a central licence server.
