EDR Credit Check (AI unconfirmed)
Not confirmed as AI: neither EDR nor the energy suppliers say whether this score comes from a statistical model, rules or machine learning. EDR Credit Check is a credit-information service that returns an automated creditworthiness score and a credit report with a risk profile for a consumer or business. EDR says it estimates payment behaviour 'door middel van een geautomatiseerd profiel', using data such as address history, debts, payment records, income and expenses, employer or benefit agency and problem-debt situations, enriched from public registers (KvK, Kadaster, insolvency register) and debt-collection agencies. Eneco, Essent, Greenchoice, Vattenfall, Budget Thuis, Pure Energie, Frank Energie (alongside Focum) and Zonneplan all name EDR in their privacy statements as the bureau that checks new customers; the result decides whether the supplier asks for a deposit (waarborgsom). Greenchoice and Vattenfall state that the check and the deposit decision are taken automatically, and Vattenfall says that profiling takes place and that an application can be reviewed by hand, for example after an objection. EDR states that it does not itself decide or reject anyone: its clients decide on the basis of its advice.
