Emotie Intelligente Zorgrobot
The Emotie Intelligente Zorgrobot is a research prototype, not a product on the market: an OPZuid project co-funded by the EU, the Dutch government and the province of Noord-Brabant to build a care robot for people with an intellectual disability or dementia whose stress builds up unnoticed. Mentech Innovation's HUME sensor platform detects early signs of tension, and the SARA care robot from SARA Robotics is meant to respond with personalised social interventions and day activities; LUMC studies validation and acceptance. A related Eurostars project (EI ROBOT, with the University of Bergen and Vitalthings) describes AI that estimates agitation and drowsiness from heart rate, respiration and stress signals measured by non-intrusive sensors. Ipse de Bruggen, which publishes the project page, and Zorggroep Elde Maasduinen are test sites in a living lab (proeftuin) where clients, relatives and care staff take part in development. Care staff stay responsible for care; the project page says a robot cannot replace a carer. No production use was found.
