Eneco Sourcing & Pricing energy-use forecasting

Eneco's Sourcing & Pricing team uses a machine-learning model that forecasts the long-term electricity and gas consumption of its business customers, about a year ahead at fine time resolution, to support energy sourcing and pricing decisions. Data consultancy BigData Republic built the model with Eneco: a proof of concept on 200 industrial connections showed 15-20% better accuracy than existing methods, and a proof of value showed over 10% improvement; by October 2023 its predictions were being integrated into Eneco's operational work. In 2026 Team Resilience built an app on top of the model so traders can work with the forecasts and decide when to buy or sell energy; the first version is live. Traders make the buy and sell decisions; the model only supplies forecasts. Model type and cloud are not stated.
