MAXQDA AI Assist
MAXQDA AI Assist is an optional add-on to MAXQDA, desktop software for qualitative and mixed-methods data analysis made by VERBI Software in Berlin. Researchers and students use MAXQDA to code and analyse interviews, documents, survey answers and other material; the project files stay on the user's computer. The vendor says AI Assist suggests codes and subcodes, codes segments that match criteria the researcher sets and explains each suggestion, groups codes into a code system, summarises documents and coded segments, explains or translates text, answers questions about the project and drafts reports with links back to the source passages. AI features are off by default, outputs are marked as AI-generated, and the researcher decides which suggestions to apply; with AI Assist Premium the features can run on a language model on the user's own computer or institutional server instead of the vendor's cloud.
