Mews Guest Messaging Agent and Automations
by Mews
Per Mews's Unfold 2026 announcement, Mews Guest Messaging is a unified guest inbox (WhatsApp, SMS, OTA messages and email) that works with full context on the reservation, the guest profile and the room, and 'can autonomously manage the conversation and even action tasks through a native Mews Agent'. Mews Automations turn guest insights into actions automatically (upgrading returning guests, adding amenities, routing tasks to teams), with workflows built from templates, customized visually or described in plain language. Mews says it is embedding agent-driven systems across the platform, and it acquired DataChat, a generative-AI analytics platform. Rated medium with low confidence: the only source read is a short announcement, so what the agent can do on its own, which systems it can change, and what guardrails exist is not confirmed. The agent runs inside a property management system that holds identity documents, contact details, reservations and payment tokens, which raises the stakes if it can take actions without approval; and it is guest-facing, so guests should be told they are dealing with an AI. The public sub-processor list names no AI model provider, the Privacy Policy covers only Mews as controller, and no AI-specific customer terms were found, though the trust center lists AI governance, third-party AI diligence and EU AI Act documents behind an access request. The rating would rise to high if the agent or Automations can change reservations, rates, charges or guest records without staff approval.
