Vattenfall InCharge predictive charge-point placement model
Vattenfall InCharge places public charging points in 67 municipalities in Gelderland and Overijssel largely before demand arises, using a predictive model developed by engineering consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV. The model estimates charging demand within a 250-metre radius and predicts how many charging points will be needed, which Vattenfall says also helps grid operators plan capacity. The concession covers at least 4,000 charging points over three years from 2022; drivers can still request a point where none is nearby. The press release does not call the model AI or describe its inputs or how municipalities approve placements.
