Agent Zero is an open-source (MIT), self-hosted framework that gives an AI agent a full Linux computer in Docker: a desktop, terminal, browser with DOM annotation, document editors, memory, subordinate agents, skills and a Plugin Hub with 100+ community plugins. The user chooses the LLM provider (cloud providers, or local Ollama and LM Studio). An optional A0 CLI Connector bridges the agent to the host machine, with per-session toggles for host file read/write and remote code execution, optional desktop control (Computer Use, enabled only on request), and use of the user's own browser session, which the docs say gives control of cookies and saved data. Rated high because the agent can execute code and act autonomously on real systems, community plugins can run shell commands and read secrets, the recommended installers pipe remote scripts into the shell, and the vendor places most risk controls on the user (isolation, trusted plugins, careful permissions). The homepage claim that AI scans vet every plugin is not backed by documentation of the scan's scope or accuracy. Mitigating points: the source is inspectable, a browser privacy policy can limit page text and screenshots to local models, Docker isolation is the documented default, and Time Travel snapshots allow workspace rollback. Data exposure depends on deployment: self-hosted use sends data only to the provider the user configures. The company's hosted 'LLM API (beta)' could not be read, so its data handling is unknown and it is not assessed here. No security policy, vulnerability-disclosure process, certification or privacy policy for the framework was found.
