Hegg Energy, an Amsterdam energy supplier that resells supply with sister company EnergyZero, rents out home batteries on a 10-year plan and steers them automatically. Solar Magazine (4 September 2024) reports that the batteries run on an AI-driven algorithm from aug.e that trades on energy markets and chooses the best strategy for each household every minute: storing solar power for later, trading on the imbalance market or feeding back to the grid. Hegg's own site now markets this as 'Hegg Intelligence', which steers home batteries and EV charging and pays customers a monthly bonus of €15-50 for battery steering. Neither source describes the algorithm's inputs or how customers can override it.
