Automatische postverwerking is the AI function for incoming post in Nedap MediKIT, a cloud information system for GP practices, used by GPs, assistants and practice nurses. Nedap says it added the function in June 2025 as MediKIT's first AI application. The vendor says it recognises the type of incoming document, such as a specialist's letter or an out-of-hours GP report, writes a short summary and places it in the right spot in the patient record. The GP checks the proposed summary and confirms it by ticking it off. Practices must switch the function on explicitly and can switch it off. Nedap says it uses only general-purpose AI from external providers, currently Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited (Azure OpenAI), with OpenAI Ireland planned. Before sending, Nedap replaces personal details with placeholders; processing stays in the EEA, data is deleted right after processing and is not used to train external models.
