Google Antigravity is an AI-powered integrated development environment (IDE) created by Google, designed to serve as a platform for AI-driven software development. Unveiled on November 18, 2025, alongside the launch of Gemini 3, Antigravity allows developers to offload complex coding tasks to autonomous AI agents. These agents are primarily powered by Google’s Gemini 3 Pro, Gemini 3 Deep Think, and Gemini 3 Flash models, though the platform also supports third-party models like Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Opus 4.5, as well as an open-source variant of OpenAI’s models (GPT-OSS-120B). Built as a heavily modified fork of Visual Studio Code, there is ongoing debate about whether Antigravity is a direct fork or derived from Windsurf, another AI-focused code editor that itself branches from Visual Studio Code. The platform was released in public preview on its announcement day and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux at no cost, offering "generous rate limits" for Gemini 3 Pro usage.
