GridOptions
by TenneT
GridOptions is an AI-based decision-support tool in TenneT TSO's transmission control room, described by its authors as the first such tool deployed in a TSO control room. It recommends remedial actions to prevent congestion in the intraday timeframe, with a 24-hour forecast horizon. It uses multi-objective quality-diversity optimisation to give operators a set of different, behaviourally diverse plans that trade off objectives. The tool works only in an 'AI-assisted, full human control' mode: it gathers information and presents options, and the human operator chooses and implements the actions. Researchers from TenneT and TU Delft describe it as a standalone tool with a simple user interface and study how it could move toward joint human-AI decision-making within TenneT's Control Room of the Future programme. The tool paper is credited to J. Viebahn (TenneT) and co-authors; external vendors are not named.
