LeapSpace
by Elsevier
LeapSpace is Elsevier's AI-assisted research workspace and the successor to ScienceDirect AI, whose customers Elsevier said would be moved to LeapSpace automatically in 2026. Researchers, students, librarians and research offices use it to explore research questions across ScienceDirect full text, Scopus records and licensed partner content, and to work with documents they upload. The vendor says it combines agentic AI, generative AI, reasoning engines and retrieval-augmented generation to answer questions, compare papers, write structured research reports, suggest collaborators and funding opportunities, and give feedback on a draft through Writing Coach. Elsevier says Trust Cards show the passage behind each claim, that researchers keep responsibility for interpretation, and that prompts and uploaded files are not used to train large language models, with uploads deleted after 30 days. Its terms say AI responses may be inaccurate and biased and are delivered without human review.
