Canvas LMS is Instructure's learning management system, used by universities and schools to run courses, assignments, discussions, quizzes and grading. IgniteAI is the name for the AI features built into it, which institutions can switch on or off. The vendor says these features generate rubrics, quiz questions, image alt text and study materials such as practice quizzes and flashcards, summarise and translate discussions, search course content, run AI chat activities that instructors design and assess (AI Experiences), and run an IgniteAI Agent that carries out Canvas tasks on request. The vendor says Grading Assistance suggests grades and feedback on student submissions against a rubric; its AI Nutrition Facts say the suggestion is shown but the instructor must make the final decision to edit or accept it, that Agent write actions must be confirmed by the user, and that customer data is not used to train the models.
