Scopus AI
by Elsevier
Scopus AI is a generative AI search feature inside Scopus, Elsevier's abstract and citation database; Elsevier's product page also calls it Scopus with AI. Researchers, students and librarians at subscribing institutions use it to ask research questions in plain language and get a referenced summary of the literature. The vendor says the AI chooses between vector and keyword search over Scopus abstracts and metadata from 2003 onward, writes topic summaries with references, suggests follow-up questions, draws concept maps, lists emerging themes and foundational papers, and offers an agentic Deep Research mode that plans searches and writes a downloadable report. Elsevier says it uses its own language models together with OpenAI's GPT hosted on Microsoft Azure, and that queries are not used to train OpenAI's models. The Scopus terms say AI responses may be inaccurate and biased and are delivered without human review, so users must apply their own judgment.
